The Lifewide Development Award provides people who are interested in their own development with a novel way of gaining encouragement, support and recognition for their efforts to improve themselves.
The Award is made by the Lifewide Education Community to people who can demonstrate their commitment and capability for self-determined and self-directed personal development.
The scheme is being piloted. It can be used by students (16+) in full or part-time education to supplement and complement their academic studies and achievements. It can also be used by anyone who is not participating in formal education. The scheme is inclusive in its scope - the only criteria for entry is that you are interested in and committed to your own personal development.

Participation is free. Achievement of the award can be highlighted in your CV or on job application forms or, if you are a sixth form student, on your UCAS personal statement. But the most important thing the Award denotes, is your willingness to develop yourself and self-awareness you have developed by thinking about of the skills, qualities, values and attitudes you have developed through your experiences that make you the unique person you are. Such self-awareness will help you present and market yourself more effectively.
The Award framework can be adapted by any educational provider to their particular circumstances and Lifewide Education will be happy to assist providers to achieve this. Organisations interested in this approach should contact the Director at [email protected]
