COLLABORATIONS
Lifewide Education is a member of the International Association For Lifewide Learning (IAFLL) which also promotes any form of learning and activity that nurtures the holistic formation of students. In particular, the Association encourages students to set lifewide learning, development and achievement goals and then actively self-manage their own progress for achieving their goals. IAFLL was founded by Chris Picone who is President of the Association and Lifewide Education Founder Norman Jackson is Vice President. It fosters networking between educators with regard to lifewide learning and education practices, and organises regular International Conferences On Learning And Community Enrichment (ICOLACE).

imaginED encourages and supports imagination-focused teaching in all contexts, from formal to alternative learning contexts, and from primary school through higher education. imaginED is about education that inspires all learners. imaginED provides teaching ideas, activities and resources aimed at students of all ages (pre-k through post-secondary). Imagination-focused teaching applies to all educational settings (the traditional “classroom”, alternative learning environments, the home school etc.), and to all subject areas.
imaginED is developing the concept of Imaginative Ecological Education which aims to nurture students’ personal relationships with the natural and cultural contexts in which they live through frequent engagement of the body, emotion, and imagination in learning. To achieve this, the possibility for emotional and imaginative engagement offered by the cognitive tools approach as outlined in Kieran Egan’s theory of Imaginative Education (IE) is paired with focused attention on engaging the body and context. Unlike IE, however, this approach to education is ecological. Its aim is to engage students in the world around them. An ecological value that is shared by Lifewide Education.

ICOLACE 4 November 2016
In November 2016 I represented Lifewide Education at the ICOLACE4 conference in Singapore and was inspired by a young man called Arcie Mallori who spoke about the educational work of Silid Aralan who try to transform the lives of poor, disadvantaged young people who are failing at school in the Philippines. I invited him to join the Lifewide Education community which he did and he wrote an article explaining the pedagogic approach that he and his team take to help students transform their lives. I also include some video clips which help animate his article.
